Let's say you send the dropship home while you explore and it's able to come back and pick you up after it all goes horribly wrong (so you've still got easy access to the Sulaco and its nukes/powerlifters etc) - the installation on LV-426 still has a substantial dollar value attached and the aliens are clearly an important species. How would you keep the marines alive, save the installation and capture an alien or two for study? Now there's a challenge!Dan Sharpnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3321335108664734096.post-8925867834431070622011-08-19T17:21:58.574+01:002011-08-19T17:21:58.574+01:00Ah no I don't mean not bothering at all! The b...Ah no I don't mean not bothering at all! The big problem the marines had was their ride back to the Sulco being destroyed shortly after they'd been mauled by the Aliens and desperately needed an evac. If they'd just landed, jumped out, and sent the dropship back up to await them on the Sulaco while they explored, Spunkmeyer and the pilot, Ferro, wouldn't have been killed by that alien which sneaked on board. So after Apone and co had been slaughtered/captured and Ripley drove the burning transport out of the colony, Ferro could have dropped down to pick them up. Then they all fly back to the Sulaco and nuke the site from orbit, as suggested! It's the only way to be sure, after all.Dan Sharpnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3321335108664734096.post-84457359022642017342011-08-18T07:36:28.331+01:002011-08-18T07:36:28.331+01:00Ha! That could work for any film: 'If I was that character, I wouldn't put myself in narrative-necessary perilous circumstances in the first place!' :D<br />Although I like the idea of the Colonial Marines landing, having a quick peep outside, saying 'Looks a bit creepy out there' and 'Let's bug out and call it even' before flying off back to the 'Sulaco'.ROB SANDERShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15361589776704139759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3321335108664734096.post-78875551351434950802011-08-18T06:59:52.741+01:002011-08-18T06:59:52.741+01:00All of this begs the very obvious question: Aliens...All of this begs the very obvious question: Aliens - what would Rob do? Presumably make sure the dropship you rode down to LV-426 on went straight back to the USS Sulaco for starters!Dan Sharpnoreply@blogger.com
